Elizabeth Thom

Dr. Elizabeth Thom, Ph.D., joined the Biostatistics Center in 1986, where she served as Center Director from 2012 to 2018. She served as a biostatistician in the United States, Canada, and England for over 30 years, with 18 years directly related to the conduct of multi-center clinical trials. Dr. Thom co-authored numerous articles presenting results of clinical studies, which have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA, among other journals. She provided biostatistical expertise and support in the design, execution, data processing and analysis of multi-center clinical trials and epidemiological studies. Dr. Thom served as a member of the Data and Safety Monitoring Committees for several National Institutes of Health (NIH) and World Health Organization (WHO) sponsored projects. While at the University, her work was recognized many times over including in 2020 when she received GW's OVPR Research Award.
