Testosterone and depressive symptoms among men in the Diabetes Prevention Program

Publication Description
Highlights • Among eugonadal middle-aged men with overweight or obesity and glucose-intolerance, randomization to a weight loss intervention was associated with small increases in testosterone. • Small increases in testosterone were not correlated with significant improvements in mood. • Intentional weight loss probably does not improve mood via testosterone increases. • Metformin was not associated with changes in testosterone, although among men using metformin, higher testosterone was associated with improved mood.
