Rebecca G. Clifton, Ph.D., is an Associate Research Professor of Epidemiology with expertise in maternal fetal medicine and prenatal diagnosis. Dr. Clifton’s research interests include the impact of gestational weight gain on maternal and infant outcomes, prevention and prediction of preeclampsia, and prenatal screening and diagnostic testing. She joined the Biostatistics Center in 1997 and is involved in study design, data management and statistical analysis of clinical studies. Dr. Clifton is currently the Principal Investigator for several NIH funded Data Coordinating Centers including the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network, Lifestyle Interventions for Expectant Moms, and the Prenatal Genetic Diagnosis by Genomic Sequencing. Dr. Clifton serves on several NIH Special Emphasis Panels and Data and Safety Monitoring Boards, and as a reviewer for obstetric and obesity journals. Within GW, Dr. Clifton serves on the Milken Institute School of Public Health Research Committee and as a faculty advisor for master and doctoral students.
