Ms. Edelstein graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in 1988 with a master’s degree in Biostatistics. Following that, she was the biostatistician for the Rancho Bernardo Study a long-term epidemiologic study of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and aging. Ms. Edelstein joined the Biostatistics Center in 1994, where she has focused on the management, conduct and analysis of clinical trials and epidemiologic studies primarily related to obesity, type 2 diabetes and prevention, heart disease, COVID-19 and cancer. Since 1994, she has served as a biostatistician on the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and is currently Co-Investigator/Biostatistician & the National Program Coordinator for the DPP followup study, the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS). Ms. Edelstein is the PI and biostatistician of the Coordinating Center for the Restoring Insulin Secretion (RISE) Study. Ms. Edelstein also serves as co-investigator on the COVID-19 Community Research Partnership (CCRP), the Exercise and Nutrition Interventions to Improve Cancer Treatment-Related Outcomes Study (ENICTO), the Metabolic Dysregulation and Cancer Risk Program (MeDOC), and the Understanding the Pathophysiology of Type 2 diabetes in Youth Study (UTP-T2D).
